«excentra»: the soup is completely spooned up

The dented plate from Osnabrück comes onto the market

A plate with own name, excentra is the invention of Claus Roeting (34) that will shake up the cupboards. The plate has a cleft to eat the soup without getting dirty.

The advertising expert and manager of the advertising company CRIMEX was obsessed with the idea since once a tomato soup dropped on his suit. How about a sloped soup plate in which the last drops of soup flow together as in a puddle? He tried to build the basic form with play dough, tasted it and pressed a prototype and now the contracts are signed and sealed. One of the most distinguished manufacturers of German porcelain Seltmann-Weiden will be responsible of producing excentra. The company invests 100,000 Euros in tools and machines.

A soup manufacturer, who cannot be named here, has already ordered 5,000 units. For consumers, “excentra” will be released in summer. A gift box with two plates will cost around 30 Euros. Guests of the hotel Walhalla in Osnabrück and of a new restaurant in the street Lotterstrasse called Nil (formerly “Pink Piano”) will also have the opportunity to try the dented plate. They have already ordered to Roeting. Airlines, orthopaedics, nursing homes and hospitals have also expressed interest in the product.

excentra - as its name suggests: outside the centre, the deeper part is on the side. Since the area to pick up the soup cannot be easily seen, the plate has a mark on this part to identify it, a mark that corresponds to its trademark.
